I'd like to hear about your favorite toy from childhood. Which one holds a special place in your heart and always will? (No technology, please.)
Explain what makes that one special toy so special to you.

Cabbage Patch Kids
One of my favorite toys from my childhood was a disney themed one. It had about 8 different characters from disney on it and when you pressed one of them it sang the disney theme song. Im not sure why I liked it so much but I did. Some of the toys above that I reconize are my little pony, cabbage patch kids, and legos. Oh and also, I used to love furbes until my broke but I actually still have it even though it doesn't move anymore. Im not sure why I liked that either.
ReplyDeleteSo late for this one because of afterschool! Oh well at least I'm 2nd (hopefully after I post). I never really had a favorite toy as a kid. They are long gone from me and are somewhere in the storage department in Forked River. Otherwise, I passed all the other ones down to my little cousin Brady who loves to be like me. I didn't play with many toys as a kid in the first place. I always loved to play with my family and that's all I did from the day I was born to 2005! Then electronics came out, so that explains enough! I bet if you didn't but "no electronics" you would get: cell phone, Game Boy, Nintendo 64, Nintendo DS. Now that I think about it, Nintendo's main highlights came out around 1995-1999!
ReplyDeleteI have so many favorite childhood toys but one of them is strawberry shortcake.I liked her so much because she smelt so good. The ones above that i recognize are the Slinky, Barbies, Elmo, My little Pony, Cabbage Patch Kid, and Legos!
ReplyDeleteI remember when I was little, for some reason, I really loved Polly Pockets. I think I also liked Barbies but I remember having this great obsession for Polly Pockets, ha.
ReplyDeleteAlso, now i noticed a lot of kids wishing for a "Elf on a Shelf." I honestly had no clue what that was until Mrs. Mitchell had to explain to me and Amy Friday. lol
Thanks Jenna, Jimmy, Cait and Courtney. I really enjoyed your comments. I like the way Jimmy got technology in there anyway. Ha.
ReplyDeleteI totally forgot a picture of Disney characters. I will go back and add one, Jenna.
My daughter loved Polly Pocket and Strawberry Shortcake too.

Well, I do recognize some toys up there like the Barbie's, cabbage patch dolls, and even the legos, but I had another toy held close to my heart. The day I was born I recieved this one teddy bear that was from my aunt(wasn't really my aunt but I called her that because she was a close friend to the family...anyway)and it didn't seem so sentimental then, until I grew about a year older. From then on that bear was like a best friend. Funny enough, I wasn't able to say teddy so I ended up calling him Tebby instead, isn't it humorous when we look back on our childhood? As I mentioned before, since I was a girly-girl, I played with polly pockets, I love pony, and many more things. But, never did any toys compare to that bear that I have had for the longest time.
ReplyDeletei remember these toys when i was younger. I loved my furbe i actually just found mine a few months ago and my friend was telling me how she was afraid of it. lol and as i was going through all my old toys i was looking through my giant collection of my little ponies from over the years since my mom was little.Oh and care bears i used to love them so much they were my best friends when i was 4 i would always have one with me and force my aunt ( two years older ) to watch movies with me and we would act them out with the stuffed animals. lol

When I was little I had every Barbuda imaginable. I mean barbies were my favorite things in the world. I remember that every day that I went to my dads I would always ask him if his friend was coming over because he would always bring me a new barbie. I could have made a mall with all of the barbie clothes I had. I just recently gave all of my barbies to my cousin. It was the hardest thing I have ever done because emotionally it was really sad but physically, the bag that I put them in was probably the heaviest thing I have ever carried.
ReplyDeleteAnother toy that I loved was my stuffed animals. I'm not exaggerating wen I say that I had thousands. My favorite was always my little giraffe and of course my giant scooby doo. I remember that everytime there was a storm and would just hold them under the covers and pretend like they were scared so that I would feel brave enough to protect them. Idk how but it always.worked.( DONT FORGET I WAS LIKE 4) Anyways I still have my scooby doo and my.giraffe, but I donated 5 trash bags filled with stuffed animals to charity it was really hard because I grew up with these toys so they r really special to me. I'm not even gonna mention wat happened wen I started collecting webkins. That's a long story lol. Let's just say I had over 100 lol.
Although these toys were special to me, my all time favorite toy was this old carousel that my dad used to put up every Christmas. It moved and played music and I could sit there and watch it forever. He still has it but he never puts it up. I sorta miss it lol.

@ Erika....Did your parents call the bear Tebby too? You probably still think of that bear as Tebby.
ReplyDelete@ Paige...I can't believe I forgot Care Bears! One of my sons was crazy about them.
@Melanie...That carousel is a family tradition. Maybe you can get your dad to put it up this year. I still have my first Barbie from when I was 10. How ironic that now my daughter works for Mattel and designs for Barbie. What a fun job that is!

Actually, you did find one of my favorite toys from my childhood. You actually found two toys that I loved when I was a child. I played with Cabbage Patch kids and teddy bears all the time when I was a child. The one toy that I will always love and that I will always hold in my heart would have to be a teddy bear. I got one special one from my dad that I still have and love and that means a whole lot to me. I have many things from my dad that I still have to this day. The reason why teddy bears and cabbage patch kids mean so much to me is because I got so many as a child and I just loved playing with them. I got so many from my parents and just loved them and played with them all the time. They mean a lot to me and they always will. Btw, I thought the movie was really good today. See you tomorrow, Mrs.P! :)

One toy that i will always remember is a small windup E.T. windup doll that would walk around. He would always walk straight to my grandmas coffee
ReplyDelete@ Blayne....Sounds like it either caused a lot of laughs or some yelling, "Oh, no!"
ReplyDeleteMrs. Prisbell

When I was little, my favorite toy was my Woody doll. In my family, we love Toy Story. My sister had a Woody and Buzz doll, I had a Woody and Buzz doll. My sister's Woody was missing his hat, but mine wasn't, so I would walk around the house and drag my doll behind me, trying to make my sister jealous. I also really liked Barbie. I was never really an imaginative kid, so I would play with the dolls for about an hour and then I would get up and just walk away. ~Emma A.
ReplyDelete@ Emma....That's a very sweet memory, especially the part where you try to make your sister jealous. Ha. Thanks for sharing.

I am like the last one to comment because my stupid computer was all like: You have no internet access. Isn't technology great?? (eye roll)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite doll was any barbie doll that I could get my hands on. I would literally spend hours talking about how one doll was going to school and the teacher was giving them a spelling test on how to spell the word cat; the next day they would go to the beach; so on. I hated guy dolls though, so I never had any. I don't know if anyone else knows, but in, like, fourth grade Webkinz was THE THING. If you didn't have a Webkinz, then you were shunned (I was in NC so I don't know if it was like that here). I had a Little Panda or whatever you called it. Hmmmm.... I was also obssessed with Winnie the Pooh. I don't think it's natural for someone to be that obssess. I have a stuffed Pooh, I used to have a Pooh armchair, and 3-4 movies of Pooh. Yep, oh and when I was born my nursery was decorated from head to toe with Pooh things.
@ Jazime....Glad you are back! I tried to post a picture of Webkinz in the comment section but it won't let me. Love technology.Ugh.
ReplyDeleteDo you think your nursery decorated in Winnie the Pooh had something to do with your lifetime love of Pooh? Just wondering...
New blog today.

Winnie the Pooh and Webkinz have now been added to the pictures. Enjoy.

When I was about 5 years old, for Chirstmas one year I got a Rudolph plastic toy with most of the other characters from the movie.. http://www.retroist.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/12/rudolphandfriends-600x374.jpg
ReplyDeleteThe link above is what they looked like. I loved them and especially loved to throw them around! It sure was a great toy.
Thanks Erin. I will check the link. Very cute, indeed.
