Welcome to Fictional Fridays.

Let's create some interesting characters.  Choose one or all of the images and "create a character" just like we did in class.  Continue with what others have written or add your own new detail to the personality of the person in the picture.  Note: Remember the questions...What is his/her name and age? Where does he/she live? Describe his/her family and friends. What does he/she do for fun? What does he/she value most etc.....Let's be creative but realistic.

Scared? How would this picture fit into a story? Share your ideas.

Where do you think a snake like this would be found?  India?
You read one story; now create your own possibilities.
What are some possible story lines that would involve this creature?

Let's talk about writing....and Fridays.

Thank you, everyone, for following and commenting on our new blog.  There were so many interesting ideas for writing from our followers.   We have a lot to talk about now. For my next post, I'd like you to think about last week's travel images.  Which was your favorite?  Which one would make the best story?  Hopefully, characters and story ideas were going around in your head as you viewed the SmartBoard.  Please share by commenting below.  Let's see which picture wins as far as best story starter.
You can look forward to this Friday for more extended free reading time and an inspiring writer's workshop based on your ideas.
Can't wait to hear your comments.

September--Characterization and Descriptive Writing

Welcome students.

This is the spot where we can talk about reading and writing.  Post your comments, questions, recommendations, story ideas, and overall thoughts about what you are reading and writing.  Our first marking period will be devoted to interesting characters and descriptive writing that appeals to the senses and uses figurative language for impact.
Let's talk about reading and writing here and comment on each others' posts.    I can't wait to hear about all your characters and story ideas.  Enjoy the blogging experience.
